If we truly love something, we invest time in it. As time is a valuable resource, when invested, it makes the person, goal or activity even more important, but there’s a negative side too. Sometimes, we hold on to the past and to the irrelevant goals just because we already spent “too much time on them.” I am sure redirecting your energy on a new product or service is hard because you are holding onto false hopes.
I know this is hard. I just worked through migrating again, and believe me, giving up on being an entrepreneur in my home-town was hard, but I lost so much energy I stopped believing in myself.

We all need a little bit of time management, but living in this age of technology, we are moving faster, and still not getting much done. A lot of us go through our weeks aimlessly waiting for a holiday. I am sure we are all hoping to have a great Easter break, but similarly we work towards our bedtime yet most of us aren’t really enjoying our sleep.
Understand this, we are emotional beings, and every activity we engage in is accompanied by a few emotions and more importantly a belief system.
For instance, can I get through this week? We anticipate events, overwhelming ourselves with thoughts of what-ifs, maybes, should, must, need to and we become self-negligent.
Planning your week will bring you the reward of self-awareness, self-management and relationship management so that you get the most out of your day.
A plan is a non-negotiable. It is what I have been doing since I know myself.
It helped me to work 3 part-time jobs, and finish my first University degree with honours, with a profile that got me called out to a job interview I wasn’t qualified for, Clinical Psychologist. I didn’t have a Masters degree but my work ethic and career skills were as good as a Masters level graduate.
I was volunteering, tutoring and working as an assistant psychologist, and research assistant whilst completing my degree, and if you were wondering, yes I missed a few classes here and there because I lived 45 minutes away from University.

Find a purpose
Your will to do anything comes from a greater purpose and you need to be passionate about whatever it is you are doing, working towards, prioritising and placing a high value on.
Everything and I mean everything else, is an excuse, a waste or a time consumer.
Many people go through their lives without a purpose or misaligned. What I mean is, they are not sure what they want and therefore, they become so miserable that all they do, is wait for time to be up. They sigh in meetings, never really present in the moment, they are disorganised, inefficient, and less principle-focused, as author of the Time Management Bible, 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, Stephen Covey would say.
With a purpose, you will place a value on how you spend your time, therefore you will set boundaries and stay committed to value-driven behaviours. You will find it easier to eliminate distractions and spend your energy on things that make you feel good, and leave you feeling accomplished.
Plan your week in advance.
Please, I beg this of you. Visualise your week’s highs and lows, and make a plan to get through them by placing fun and physical activities for yourself in your schedule. Schedule your priorities.
Get your shit done in clothing that motivates action.
My gym wear is sometimes great for writing a new blog, but then other times I realise my “jammies” (pajamas) can work just as well, as they are now. You have a favourite t-shirt, a favourite colour, your cool ring that makes you write.
Learn how to manage your time from an expert
I had to get coaching on this last year, because I had a big dream to achieve. I need someone to tell me how to regain purpose, develop my intuition and dream big. Don’t beat yourself up. You have to be mindful that Rome was not built in a day and tiny steps are better than none, and momentum is best gained with a little rest and relaxation too.
Invest in productivity tools
I absolutely love stationery and pens, but I also love mindful colouring, meditation and great apps to help me manage my time more effectively but nothing beats a blank sheet of paper. Get it out on paper and enjoy the process of being more productive.
Carve time out to plan every week and make it a thang
Get a frigging cup of tea, sit with your favourite journal, and pull my weekly plan out and visualise your week.
It gets better, just monitor your progress and be creative.
You will know what to do to get you psyched up, but if you are struggling with that, I am your gal.
